My swift feet...

Are you waiting to clean up your life first?!
Back to Full Blog

How many of you out there are waiting to "clean up" or "change" your lives before you commit to God?!?

I know it may seem like the right thing to do but what if I told you God wanted you to come just as you are?...no matter what addictions, no matter what you've stolen, lied about, no matter who you've hurt, no matter what inward struggle you have, no matter what bad habits, no matter what relationship history, no matter if gay/lesbian, no matter who your "old self" was!

You may be asking...OLD SELF?! What does that even mean? If you come to God, earnestly seeking Him to be the one to change your heart and not relying on your own strength to do so...God will make you "New" he will totally do away with the "old self" which is the reason you are trying to change in the first place...the reason you are seeking God. Here are some verses that might help you understand a lil more >>>

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect

Galatians 3:3
How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?

Romans 3:27
Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith.

Ephesians 2:9
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

So there you have it…there is nothing in your power you can do to be accepted by God except to accept his Son as your savior to remove the countless sins and transgressions that you’ve committed and that God has a record of!

That’s right…you know that book that everyone talks about? The Book of Life? How would you like to know that your name is in that book? And all your sins are erased? That would be a relief wouldn’t it? You know I have this little saying “I would much rather be living like there is a God and find out he doesn’t exist, then live like there is NO God and find out he does…” I truly believe it takes more faith to be an atheist and believe there is NO God! My reasoning is this…say 100% is all the knowledge in the universe and us humans each only know 1% of all the knowledge in the universe, now isn’t there a slight chance that in the 99% of knowledge left out there, that God just might exist?! So therefore if anyone says flatly “There is no God” they are claiming to know everything…all 100% of knowledge, now that takes faith ;)

So anyway back on track…so you may be saying…”okay so if I don’t have to clean up my act first to be accepted by God, how then should I go about being accepted?” And I tell you…I have the answer!!! Jesus Christ. He is the perfect sinless lamb used as a sacrifice to cover the multitude of sins you and I myself have committed. Even I have done wrong and realized that God has a free gift for everyone (who wants it)! And what kind of gift you may be thinking/asking…How many of you have heard of the “Fountain of Youth”? Sounds pretty darn tempting right…we all want to live forever right? That sounds like a pretty sweet deal? Well what if I told you, you didn’t have to travel anywhere or go take a dip in some fountain to have eternal, everlasting life?! Sounds pretty interesting and tempting huh? You know you could actually be sitting right where you…just sitting right where you are you can receive eternal life and never die!

So wanna hear more?……………

Good! Here is a lil something to help you further your decision making>>>

8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
~Ephesians 2:8-9

What is being said in the above verses is that you cannot attempt to do anything to earn God’s love and acceptance you have to receive grace. You don’t receive grace by saying, “yeah I believe in God” b/c as it says in James 2:19 is “You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” So it is not merely believing it’s letting Jesus be the one to save you aka your savior. Believing that God sent Jesus to die for YOU!!! You have to believe that Jesus sacrificed His life so that you may have one. Now you do not change miraculously overnight but if you TRULY have accepted Christ as your savior you should “want” to change, you should want to do what is pleasing to God. But guess what? You will still fall, we are after all still flesh, but thanks to God’s grace all you have to do is pray for God to forgive you and that sin is erased! This is seriously a personal relationship with God, you can pray whenever and wherever you want. But on a down note…if you do not believe that His Son Jesus was sent to die on this earth, to lay down His perfect life to be the blood shed to cover YOUR SINS then He will not hear you.>>>

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." ~John 14:6

WHAT SHALL YOU DO TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE? >>>

16 And, behold, one came and said to him (Jesus), Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said to him, Why do you call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He said to him, Which? Jesus said, You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,
19 Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
20 The young man said to him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said to him, If you will be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Then said Jesus to his disciples, Verily I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the Kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
~Matthew 19: 16-24~

God doesn’t want you to love anything on this earth more than Him and to be more concerned with these earthly possessions rather than having everlasting life. We came into this world with nothing and we can take nothing out of it.

I get scared b/c sometimes I feel I am committing idolatry and serving another God, whether it be…money, friends, movies, tv, husband…it can be anything that soaks up ALL your time and love to the point where you have nothing left for God! You don’t spend time with Him or love Him quite as much as you love that new purse, or car or boyfriend, or xbox. That you actually love something on this earth more…

So back to the whole idea of cleaning up YOUR life first…Here is a Footnote taken from The Evidence Bible compiled by Ray Comfort, pg 1220
Questions & Objections>>>
Those who think that they can clean up their lives don’t see their true plight. They are standing guilty before a wrath-filled God. They have been condemned by His law (John 3:18; Romans 3:19). If a man commits rape and murder and admits to the judge that he is guilty, will the judge let him go just because the man says he will clean up his life? He is in debt to the law and must be punished. We may be able to clean up our lives in the sight of man, but not in the sight of God. The only way we can be cleansed is to repent and trust in the Savior.

So have you blown a fuse? Are you confused by certain words such as Savior, Faith, Grace? I’m sure you are not alone…it took me a lot of years to figure out how it all works and what exactly YOU need to do. So let’s go over each shall we>>>

Q. What is the definition of Savior
A. A person who saves, rescues, or delivers

Q. So who is my Savior
A. Jesus Christ

Q. How do I accept Jesus as my Savior
A. This is your chance to be alone and talk to God saying something like this… God I’m sorry for all my sins that I have committed against you. I know that I am in need of a Savior. I know that your Son whom died for my Sins and now sits beside you in Heaven is that Savior. I believe you sent Him to die for me and if I am willing to repent you will shed your grace on me and I shall have everlasting life. I know that I can not see you unless I accept your Son. So I ask Him to come into my heart and transform me. Amen

Q. What is faith
A. Confidence or trust in a person or thing; belief that is not based on proof; the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.

Q. So what is Grace
A. The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God.

Q. So does everlasting life mean I will NEVER die?
A. Your earthly body, mortal body, your flesh etc. will die and pass away. But your Spirit goes on to be with Christ. You will be accepted into heaven on the day of Judgment while others will be cast into the lake of fire (Hell) Matthew 25:46 says “And they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

Q. Why did God send his Son into the world
A. John 3:16-17 says “For God so loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:36 says “And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.”

Q. So how come Jesus didn’t have to die over and over?
A. Hebrews 9: 27-28 says “And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.

Q. So where in the Bible is this lake of fire (Hell) talked about.
A. Revelation 20:14-15 says “Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Hey there lagirl,
Wow thank you for that great compliment! You are so good to me But no, I did not attend Bible College, it's just through a lot of years spent reading my Bible...which is like Bible college in a way Since I was a pre-teen I would delve into God's word and just overtime I started remembering where certain stories were located and remembering verses on certain subjects and also I have a sort of picture memory that I can remember approx whereabout something is! Like verses on Marriage are in 1 Corinthians 7 or something like that, armor of God is Ephesians 6, and Beatitudes are in Matthew 5. But I do really appreciate that you think I'm knowledgeable at a young age...but I'm really not, I still have a lot of learning to do and each and every time I open my Bible I learn something new which I find so exciting! I really hope to get to the point where someone could ask anything and I know it right off the bat...that would be sweet So how are you doing this Monday? How was Sunday by the way?!? Well take it easy! Luv Aves
